Student from Switzerland competes in the White County Fair Speed Horse Show
Debbie Pletscher from Schaffhausen, Switzerland competed in the youth barrel race last week at the White County Fair speed horse show. Debbie has been living in the United States with her aunt and uncle, specifically in Noble, Illinois since July 12th. Her aunt, Amy Fulk and husband Cory, are long time competitors in the barrel race event at Carmi. Debbie is 16 years old and has ridden a horse with English tack (flat saddle), but never in a barrel racing timed event. Her mount was Brownie, a 5 year old mare, who was trained by Aunt Amy. Even though Debbie did not win a check at Carmi, she was thrilled to be able to compete in a prestigious barrel race, like Carmi. She will be in the United States until August 6 when she returns to her native country to go back to school as a senior. |
