Purina Saddle Series and Fremont Youth Rodeo

Hello everyone,
I am making plans to get started during March. Hopefully the weather will stay good and we can ride some during February. The first event will be Purina Saddle Series on March 17 and 18. Exhibitions will start at 4:30 pm on Saturday and 10 am on Sunday. Entry fees are $20 per event with exhibitions at $3 each or 2 for $5. The following weekend March 23, 24, 25, Jimmie Munroe will be in Fremont for a barrel clinic. She only takes 15 horses at the clinic. It will be videotaped and each student will receive a copy of the DVD. I will need a deposit so Jimmie knows how many horses will be there. She is a very good teacher and you will learn a great deal in 2 ½ days. We will have another PSS barrel race on Saturday at 6 pm and Sunday at 11 am that weekend. Open class will not run before these times. We start early with exhibitions. For more information go to barrelracerslimited.com
On April 7, from 9 am until 3 pm there will be a youth clinic (18 years and under)for calf roping, goat tying, barrel race and pole bending. Each student will work 2 hours on each event. On April 14, the Fremont youth rodeo will start for the 2012 summer series. We will start at 10:30 am with pole exhibitions. The grand entry will be at 11 am followed by the Senior Pole Bending. For more information go to fremontyouthrodeo.net . Then Saturday and Sunday will be two PSS barrel races.
On April 27 and 28, Jerry Barrett will be in Fremont conducting a pole bending clinic. A deposit is required because Jerry wants to limit the number of students he takes, so everyone gets lots of individual attention. We will follow with a PSS barrel race at 6 pm on Saturday and 11 am on Sunday. You can find more information about the clinic at barrelracerslimited.com
On May 19 and 20, will be the final PSS run for the 2011-12 season. Awards will be presented at 1 pm on May 20, 2012. All stalls will have to be unlocked, and cleaned out down to the dirt at this time. The 4th Annual Memorial Barrel Race which was held last weekend was a great success. We had a huge amount of donations placed on tables for the silent auction. Some of the donors were Purina Mills Horse Feed, Hillcrest Animal Clinic, Wal-Mart, Tractor Supply, and the barrel racers, themselves. We raised $1100 so far, and I am continuing to collect donations this week. All the money raised will be split equally between two different cancer charities, in memory of Claudia and Sheila. I want to thank everyone for their generosity whether it was donating or buying from the silent auction.
If you need to have a mammogram and your insurance does not cover the expense, Paula Johnson and I can make arrangements for you to receive a free mammogram. Please notify either one of us and we can provide you with further details.
